网络中国节·春节 | Guizhou Echo：稻花鱼儿 迎新春来

中国人在春节有吃一盘鱼的传统，因为在中文里“鱼”与“余”谐音，中国成语“年年有余”是过年时流行的问候语，表达一种“愿你总是得到更多你想要得到的”的祝愿。

Chinese people have the tradition of having a plate of fish during the Chinese New Year, as the Chinese word for fish is a homonym for surplus, and a Chinese idiom "年年有余" is a popular greeting heard through Chinese New Year and expressing that "May you always get more than you wish for".

在贵州剑河，在每年的插秧期十天左右之后，当地农民就会往稻田里投放一些鱼苗，这些鱼儿被称之为“稻花鱼”，依靠吃稻田的害虫和杂草生活。

In Jianhe, Guizhou, about 10 days after every year transplanting the rice seedlings, local farmers will put some fry in the rice fields. This fish is called the "Daohua fish", and they feed on weeds and pests in rice fields.

每年秋收后，农户都会把鲤鱼继续留在稻田里放养。待到农历新年到来进行捕捉，用来招待宾朋，并传递新年祝福。

After the autumn harvest, farmers keep raising carp in rice fields. Wait until the Chinese New Year arrives to catch fish, use to entertain guests and friends, and deliver New Year's blessings.
