锡绣——世界独一无二的刺绣工艺,600年无字史身上穿
苗绣没有任何所谓的参考书籍标准,所见之物皆可绣。高山、流水、蝴蝶、枫叶、神龙、飞鸟、游鱼和各种古代传说,所有的生物都可以在衣服上绣成图案。苗绣的主题表达了苗族妇女对世界和宇宙的看法。除了刺绣作品中的动植物外,他们很少展示特定的生活场景。现代人还认为苗绣是道教对自然的信仰,认为它是“绣在衣服上的史书”。
The Miao embroidery has no reference books. They embroider whatever they see, the mountains, the waters, butterflies, maples, dragons, birds, fish, ancient myths and all creatures can be embroidered as patterns on clothes. The theme of Miao embroidery expresses Miao women's view of the world and the universe. They rarely display specific life scenes other than animals and plants in their embroidery works. Modern people also regard Miao embroidery as a reflection of the Taoism which believes in the nature, considering it "history books written on clothes”.

Tin embroidery is a very distinctive branch of Miao embroidery. It is very gorgeous which use tin as the main material. Then the contents of tin embroidery are mostly abstractor namentation. Such kind of embroideries looks very conspicuous, which can also be considered that it is very international and modern. people can find the extravagance of Guizhou from Tin Embroidery of the Miao Ethnic Group. It has owned cultural, artistic and public welfare value.
锡绣因其材料特殊,纹样色彩古老又新奇,历史感与现代感兼具,被称为“绣中绝技”。2006年,苗族锡绣被列入第一批国家级非物质文化遗产名录。
