<Youth> was written by Samuel Ullman who was an American businessman, poet, humanitarian.

今天，他 最为人所知的作品就是这首《青春》，这首诗也是道格拉斯·麦克阿瑟将军的最爱。

He is best known today for his poem <Youth> which was a favorite of General Douglas MacArthur.

《青春》是塞缪尔·厄尔曼 77 岁时的作品。

 <Youth> was Samuel Ullman’s work when he was seventy-seven years old.

在过去的 70 年里，他以多年积 累的经验和洞察力，用优美的语言和哲学的思维，积极而有力地写了这篇文章。

He accumulated experience and insight in the last 70 years and wrote the poem in a positive and vigorous way using beautiful language and philosophical thinking.

Youth

青春不是人生的一段时间，而是一种心态;

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind;

青春不在于满面红光，嘴唇红润， 腿脚麻利，而在于意志刚强，想象丰富，情感饱满;

It is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees. It is a matter of the will, quality of the imagination, vigor of the emotions.

青春是生命之泉的明澈清新。

It is the freshness of the deep springs of life.

青春意味着在气质上勇敢战胜怯懦，进取精神战胜安逸享受。

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease.

这种气质在 60 岁的老人中比在 20 岁的青年中更常见。

This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20.

仅仅一把年纪决不会导致衰老。

Nobody grows old merely by a number of years.

我们之所以老态龙钟，是因为我们放弃了对理想的追求。

We grow old by deserting our ideals.

岁月的流逝会在皮肤上留下皱纹，而热情的丧失却会给灵魂刻下皱纹。

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.

焦虑、 恐惧和缺乏自信会使心情沮丧，意志泯灭。

 Worry, fear, self distrust blows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

无论是 60 岁，还是 16 岁，每一个人的心田都有着寻根问底、追求人生乐趣 的不泯童心。

Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being's heart the unfailing child like appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living.

在你我的心田中有座无线电台，只要它能接受来自人类和上帝的美 感、希望、欢乐、勇气和力量，你就会永葆青春。

In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station, so long as it receives message of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young.
